- 1.Introduction
-
- Decrunch is a little utility which makes it possible to decompress
- files crunched by PowerPacker, Zoo or LHArc. This program needs the
- powerpacker library (in the LIBS: directory) and the Zoo and Lha exe-
- cutable files (in the current path search). It also needs the whatis
- library to recognize the compression type.
-
- This program can only be run under Kickstart v2.04 or higher and
- uses the locale library if it exists. For the moment, only English and
- French are available.
-
-
- 2.Starting Decrunch
-
- Decrunch can either be started from the Workbench or from the Shell.
-
-
- 2.1.Starting from the Workbench
-
- Once Decrunch has been started by clicking twice on its icon, it
- opens a file requester asking for a file to decompress. A second re-
- quester is then opened to ask for the directory where the result of
- the decompression should be put. When the decompression is finished, a
- last requester warns the user.
-
- When a file crunched using Zoo or LHArc is decompressed, Decrunch
- opens a window where the steps of the decompression are described.
- This window has to be closed by the user. When the decompression is
- done by the powerpacker library and if the file is crypted, a reques-
- ter will open asking the user for a password.
-
- The following tool type can be used :
-
- QUIET=TRUE to tell Decrunch not to open the last requester.
-
-
- 2.2.Starting from the Shell
-
- The syntax is in this case :
-
- Decrunch [<source>] [<destination>] [REQ] [ASKDEST] [QUIET], where
-
- <source> is the name of the file to decompress,
-
- <destination> is the name of the directory where the result of
- the decompression should be put,
-
- REQ tells Decrunch to display a possible message in a requester
- and not in the Shell window,
-
- ASKDEST leads Decrunch to open a file requester where you can
- give the name of the destination directory even if a di-
- rectory name has been given in the command line (this
- option is used by DropIt!),
-
- QUIET tells Decrunch not to show the last requester "Decrunching
- done"
-
-
- 3.Error messages
-
- Decrunch can display the following error messages :
-
- "Can't open intuition library v37" :
-
- The intuition library version 37 (or higher) is not available.
- You should use a more recent Kickstart version (at least 2.04).
-
- "Can't open dos library v37" :
-
- The dos library version 37 (or higher) is not available. You
- should use a more recent Kickstart version (at least 2.04).
-
- "Can't open asl library v37" :
-
- The asl library version 37 (or higher) is not available. You
- should use a more recent Workbench version (at least 2.04).
-
- "Can't open icon library v37" :
-
- The icon library version 37 (or higher) is not available. You
- should use a more recent Kickstart version (at least 2.04).
-
- "Can't open whatis library v3" :
-
- The whatis library version 3 (or higher) is not available. Check
- if this library is in the LIBS: directory. If that is the case,
- you should try to get a more recent version.
-
- "Can't open powerpacker library v34" :
-
- The powerpacker library version 34 (or higher) is not available.
- Check if this library is in the LIBS: directory. If this is the
- case, you should try to get a more recent version.
-
- "Out of memory" :
-
- Decrunch needs more memory. Try to free some by closing some ap-
- plications or windows.
-
- "Cannot read file" :
-
- The chosen file cannot be read. This might be caused by a non-
- existent file name, a disk removed too quickly from the drive, a
- lack of memory, ...
-
- "Error while writing" :
-
- The result of the decompression cannot be written in the chosen
- directory. This might be caused by a disk removed too quickly
- from a drive, a disk write protected, ...
-
- "Destination directory does not exist" :
-
- The destination directory where the result of the decompression
- should be put does not exist.
-
- "Bad password" :
-
- The user asked Decrunch to decompress a file crypted by PowerPa-
- cker but he didn't give the right password.
-
- "The file has been crunched by an unknown version of PowerPacker":
-
- You should put a more recent version of the powerpacker library
- in your LIBS: directory.
-
- "Unknown file type" :
-
- This file has neither been compressed by PowerPacker nor by Zoo
- or LHArc.
-
- "Error while decrunching by Lha" :
-
- An error has occured while Lha was decompressing the file.
-
- "Error while decrunching by Zoo" :
-
- An error has occured while Zoo was decompressing the file.
-
- "Can't lock public screen" :
-
- Decrunch cannot lock the default public screen so it cannot open
- a window on it.
-
